Over the years there have been a number of dogs that lived at Boston Lighthouse. One of most noted of them in the history of the lighthouse was a 100-pound black lab named Bear that lived most of its life on the island and was buried there by David Vitale, who was assistant keeper from 1967 to 1969. Shown here in 2003 are the Boston Lighthouse dogs Sammy and Cyrus. (Lighthouse Digest archives photo by Merle Wiggin.)
