Photo Caption:

Both of these lighthouse keepers had smiles on their faces when this 1939 photo was taken in the kitchen of the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse. The man on the left is only identified as Frank and the man on the right is 1st assistant keeper James N. Brotherson. There was no bottled water in those days, the keepers got all their drinking water direct from Lake Michigan. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
