This issue’s cover is of the 1857 Fort Point Light in Stockton Springs Maine. It is adjacent to Fort Pownall, built in 1759 to guard against French attack. Fort Point Lighthouse was transferred to the Maine Bureau of Parks and Land under the Maine Lights Program and is now part of Fort Point State Park. The pyramidal wood fog bell tower was built in 1890 and today offers great photo-ops for visitors to the fort and lighthouse. You will learn more about life at Fort Point Lighthouse in an upcoming edition of Lighthouse Digest.
