Lighthouse keeper Charles Dyer is shown here at Monhegan Island Lighthouse. He worked under head keeper Merton Tolman at Matinicus Rock Lighthouse as 3rd assistant keeper in 1905, 2nd assistant keeper in 1907, 1st assistant keeper in 1908, and he then became head keeper in 1911 when Merton Tolman resigned, a position that Dyer held until 1916. Charles Dyer later served at Manana Island Fog Signal Station from 1916 to 1924 and then at Monhegan Island Lighthouse from 1924 to 1936. (Courtesy Monhegan Museum.)
