While serving at Tchefuncte River Lighthouse, Keeper Schrieber was awarded the efficiency star eight different years and was commended for keeping a timber-loaded raft from floating into Lake Pontchartrain. Schrieber also served as a corporal in the army during the Spanish-American War and was a town Marshall in Ocean Springs, MS. He died on March 15, 1944 at the age of 72 and is buried in the Biloxi National Cemetery in Mississippi. (Courtesy of Bobby Schrieber) Back to the edition of: May/Jun 2019
