Ann served as an official keeper to her father William Thomas, first for a few months starting in December of 1909, and then again for eight months from October 1910 to June 1911. It seems the Lighthouse Service was short-staffed during that time as assistant keepers George L. Lonholt and Elmer J. Claboe only stayed for a brief period before transferring elsewhere or resigning.
