Marine Surveyor Charles Deroko is standing next to Nantucket Lightship/LV-112 in 2012 when the vessel was in dry-dock at Fitzgerald’s Shipyard, Chelsea, Massachusetts. Eight tons of marine growth had just been removed from LV-112’s hull below the water line. The last time LV-112 had been dry-docked was more than 20 years earlier, in Rockland, Maine.
