The U.S. Coast Guard’s Centennial HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane and MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter are shown here flying over the 1877 Nauset Beach Light on Cape Cod, Massachusetts this past December. The Nauset Beach Lighthouse was originally one of the twin lights of Chatham, Massachusetts. It was moved from Chatham in 1923 to become the Nauset Beach Lighthouse. In 1996, the lighthouse was moved 336 feet back from the eroding shoreline to where it is shown in this photo. If it had not been moved, it would have toppled over the bluff, which continues to erode. (U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Nicole J. Groll)
