Charles H. Newman was the keeper of Maine’s Pumpkin Island Lighthouse from 1911 to 1930. He had previously served at Mt. Desert Rock Lighthouse from 1902 to 1909, and Monhegan Island Lighthouse from 1909 to 1911. On September 28, 2016 in a ceremony sponsored by Lighthouse Digest at the Mt. Height Cemetery in Southwest Harbor, Maine, a U.S. Lighthouse Service Memorial Marker was placed at his gravesite. (Lighthouse Digest archives photo courtesy Mildred Phillips Chalmers)
