Henry Hill Jr was born in England on February 18, 1867. He received permanent appointments in Oregon at Cape Meares Light (1919-1921) and Yaquina Head Lighthouse (1922-1931) and then served at the District 17 office in Portland as a relief keeper to be sent out when needed to any lighthouse in the district. Known locations where he was assigned are Smith Island Light in Washington and Tillamook Rock Lighthouse in Oregon. He retired in 1933 at age 66. (Courtesy Bureau of Land Management)
