Contrary to popular belief, the first order Fresnel lens from Tillamook Rock Lighthouse was not destroyed during the 1934 storm. Some prisms were damaged but it remained operational for another eight months when it was then was replaced with a double-tiered aerobeacon in June 1935. It next went on exhibit at the October 1935 Pacific International Livestock Exhibition in Portland, Oregon where Henry Hill served as a U.S. Lighthouse Service docent.
