Born on September 10, 1827, John W. Lane was 30 years old when he marred married 18-year-old Sarah Noyes in 1857. The couple had one daughter together. He became the keeper of the Mission Point Lighthouse on August 16, 1881 and served until his death on December 12, 1906. He had previously been the keeper of the St. Clair Flats South Channel Range Rear Lighthouse from 1878 to 1881. (Photo courtesy Mission Point Lighthouse)
