Five Finger Island Lighthouse was one of the first two lights completed in Alaska. Carl Leick’s 1901 design was a departure from his octagons, featuring a rectangular dwelling on a concrete platform with a square tower rising from the hipped roof at one end. This design was also used to construct Lincoln Rock Lighthouse a short time later. (Courtesy Coast Guard Museum of the Northwest)
