Not only did Carl Leick design lighthouses, fog signals and keepers’ dwellings, but all the additional station buildings as well, including oils houses, barns, sheds, storage buildings, windmills for pumping water and even outdoor privies. North Head Lighthouse in Washington is the most intact light station in the Pacific Northwest with all of the original buildings still standing. Leick’s barn, which is currently used as a gift shop for the property, was designed with the jerkinhead roof style and veranda roof extension as well.
