Shown is Walter White’s retirement-era Coast Guard identification card which classifies him as a former civilian lighthouse keeper. Walter commented in a local newspaper article about the consolidation of the U.S. Lighthouse Service with the Coast Guard, which he felt was a mistake: “A lighthouse was home to the man in the Lighthouse Service. He had his family with him, and could raise a garden. But the Coast Guard men are ‘here today and gone tomorrow.’” (Courtesy of Betty Westby)
