For a Vashon Island newspaper interview, Walter White, then age 80, stands next to the model of Piedras Blancas Lighthouse that his son, LeRoy, had constructed while living at Point Hueneme. The lighthouse is resting on a stand for a rain gauge that Walter had built several years before. The article reported that “White nevertheless is not interested either in boating or water now. ‘I’ve had enough of it,’ he will tell you.” (Courtesy of Betty Westby)
