Marblehead Lighthouse keeper Charles A. Hunter is shown here with his grandson Mills Brandes. Hunter had an interesting life before he became a lighthouse keeper in 1901. He prospected for gold in California, strung telegraph wires in the West, and rode the range as a cowboy. He was single until he was 50 years old when, on February 12, 1920, he married Elizabeth Mills Siegling, a 47-year-old widow with four children. He died on August 27, 1938 at the age of 69 and was buried in the Clemons Cemetery in Marblehead, Ohio. (Photo courtesy Marblehead Historical Society)
