The Lighthouse

By Diane McGee

Comments?

Here we are a-drifting on a sea so very strong,

Not knowing where we’re going into the night so long,

We’re looking for a signal, a way to guide us home,

On the sea so mighty, you feel small and all alone.

Then the lookout spots it, a great beam up ahead,

A bright illumination by which we will be led,

A way to port and home again, a grateful sight to see,

Thank God there is a lighthouse to guide the way for me.

The lighthouse, the lighthouse,

An edifice so strong,

It’s there to light the way for us,

We’ll just keep holding on.

The lighthouse, the lighthouse,

An edifice so strong,

It guides us all to safety,

It’s there the whole night long.
