Doug Bingham, corporation secretary of the American Lighthouse Foundation, in a ceremony held at the Woods Hole Coast Guard Station, was awarded the United States Coast Guards Meritorious Public Service Award.

The written copy of the award states, “ Mr. Bingham’s dedication and superior accomplishments are heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard.”

The award mentions Doug’s role as historian for the WLV 612 Friends of Nantucket 1 Lightship, his role in the Lightship Sailors Memorial, and his hundreds of hours of volunteer work in supporting lighthouse restoration and preservation.

For those of us who know Doug Bingham, we are aware of all that he does and it is greatly appreciated. Thank you Doug and congratulations on the Coast Guard Public Service Award, you deserve it.
