The building of Spectacle Reef Lighthouse in 1874 in Lake Huron near Cheboygan, Michigan was considered one of the greatest engineering feats of its time. It took more than 200 men working for four years to complete the structure. And perhaps longer to restore it. This year the lighthouse is getting some work done with several crews of volunteers spending time on the remote station, and even a brand new flag at the station. Here are a few photos from this year’s work.
