Now here’s a view of New Jersey’s Barnegat Lighthouse that very few people have ever seen. The lighthouse is minus its distinctive color bands. This photograph taken in the summer of 1955 by Frank Brick shows the lighthouse in the process of re-painted after being sand blasted.

This story appeared in the August 2001 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine. The print edition contains more stories than our internet edition, and each story generally contains more photographs - often many more - in the print edition.
