The grounds at Minnesota’s Split Rock Lighthouse were packed with people to annual lighting of the mammoth clamshell lens in honor of the 29 men lost on November 10, 1975 aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald. Speakers were on hand to tell the story and read the names of those lost along with music and aerial drone footage of the memorial service. The event was livestreamed and nearly 1,500 people from across the United States were able to be a part of this special event. (Photos courtesy Split Rock Lighthouse, Minnesota Historical Society)
