Lighthouses like people are always having birthdays. Two light stations that immediately come to mind that are celebrating their 200th birthday this year are Wood Island Lighthouse in Biddeford Pool, Maine and Chatham Lighthouse on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. However, even though those aforementioned light stations are celebrating their 200th birthday, the towers themselves are not 200 years old. The current tower at Chatham was built in1847 and the tower at Wood Island was built in 1858, both having replaced earlier towers that had been demolished.
