Every year a small contingent of members of the U.S.C.G. Lightship Sailors Association gather to place a wreath on the National Lightship Sailors Memorial that is located on the waterfront in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

This year’s small contingent consisted of Dennis Cosmo, who assembled the wreath, along with Joe Ratcliff, Alfred Monterio, and Ron Janard. Alfred Monterio is the grandson of Alfredo Monterio who lost his life when the LV-117 Nantucket Lightship was hit and sunk in 1934 when it was struck by the RMS Olympic, sister ship of the RMS Titanic.
