Historic aerial view of the Marshall Point ...

Visitors to Maine’s Marshall Point Lighthouse this year will see a new building at the historic site. At a cost of $150,000 a replica of the original barn was dedicated last August.

The original barn at Marshall Point Lighthouse ...

The original barn, built around the turn of the 20th century, served many purposes over the years. As well as serving as a general workshop for lighthouse maintenance, some keepers used it as a secondary means of support from shoe making to lobster trap building. In 1971 when the lighthouse was automated, the Coast Guard demolished the barn.
