The U.S. Coast Guard’s 140-foot icebreaking tugboat Katmai Bay (WTGB 101) is shown here performing its winter duties west of the Straits of Mackinac in Lake Michigan near the 1910 White Shoal Lighthouse.

The Katmai Bay is homeported in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The now privately owned White Shoal Lighthouse is undergoing restoration and is under the care of the White Shoal Light Historical Preservation Society that shared these recent photos with us.
