The work was done by Knowles Industrial Services of Gorham, Maine, who brought out masons to perform the work on the mortar, bricks, steel beams, and new doors. The new bell doors for the seaward side of the tower were made by Jeff Burke, the former owner of the keeper’s house at the lighthouse. The work crew spent last summer on the island while doing the work.

The project was led by the Friends of Isle au Haut Lighthouse with funding provided by various sources including, but not limited to: the Belvedere Historic Fund of the Maine Community Foundation, the Fisher Foundation, the U.S. Lighthouse Society, Friends of Acadia Camden National Bank and many other individual donors.

The 1907 Isle au Haut Lighthouse is sometimes referred to as the Robinson Point Lighthouse. It was automated in 1934 and the keeper’s house was sold and has remained privately owned ever since. However, the tower has been owned since 1998 by the Town of Isle au Haut.
