Notes:
Ownership of this lighthouse was transferred to the Great Lakes Lightkeepers Association (GLLKA) in June 2004. GLLKA is restoring the lighthouse to its 1910 appearance. While there is no longer a light within the lantern, this structure is equipped with a locomotive-style light on the gallery. Both range lights are equipped with this type of lighting, and are both are still actively serving as a range. The rear light is shown from a skeleton tower.

Characteristic and Range: Fixed red.

Description of Tower: Square wooden tower attached to keeper's dwelling.

Optics: 1880: Sixth-order Fresnel lens.

Current Use: Active aid to navigation, offices.

Directions:
This lighthouse is located at First and Water Streets in Cheboygan. It can be seen from tours offered by Mackinac Seaplane Tours -- see www.mackinacseaplanes.com or call 906-632-9746. The Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association plans to open the station to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day through the end of September in 2005.
