In 1966 the upper tiers of this lighthouse were removed, but one tier was left on top of the caisson and a helipad was added above that.

Fog Signal: Compressed air fog whistle.
Current Use: Replacement beacon is an active aid to navigation.

The modern beacon can be seen from Lincoln Park in San Francisco.
