The Cuttyhunk Life Saving Station is the building on the right; it no longer stands. What happened to it? We’d like to locate photos of its demolition or its move. The Methodist church on the left still stands. The U.S. Life-Saving Service was a sister organization to the U.S. Lighthouse Service. In 1915 the Life-Saving Service and the Revenue Cutter Service were merged to create the United States Coast Guard.

This story appeared in the Jan/Feb 2014 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine.
