Mississippi’s relocated and rebuilt Round Island Lighthouse is shown here as it gets its first official whitewash. The lighthouse, which rose from destruction, is now at a much safer location at the foot of the bridge near the Passcagolua River, which flows into Mississippi Sound. It is now becoming a symbol that means so much, in so many different ways, to so many people.

This story appeared in the Jan/Feb 2014 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine. The print edition contains more stories than our internet edition, and each story generally contains more photographs - often many more - in the print edition.
