Most of us are aware, or should be, with the Oath of Office given to President of the United States, which is similar to the oath given to most other political offices, and to the military. But, you may not be familiar with the oath that was designated by the U.S. Light Board in the 1800s to be given to lighthouse keepers. In the early years the oath was administered by the Chief Clerk of the Office of the Lighthouse Inspector of each lighthouse district.
